New Header!

Hey All! You might notice that the top of my blog looks better! That is all thanks to Anthonie from Randomandunheardof! He took my vague ideas and made them into an awesome header, so go over to his site and check out his other work.

Anyway, I love the new look, and will probably make a couple other changes with my color scheme to follow suit. Have a great rest of your day everyone!

Blog Updates!

Hey everyone!

I know that updates have been sporadic again. I’ll see what I can do to fix that. I did finally write a few posts and put them in the queue, so let’s just hope I can stay caught up.

This post isn’t about excuses though, it’s about new stuff! I got all of my link pages updated, so you can more easily explore my old posts. Most of them even have descriptions now!

I want to do something where people can request that I write a poem or story centered around a certain word, idea, or topic. I might even make a contest or something out of it. I’m not sure exactly how it will work, but if you’d like to request a poem or story, for now just use the comments below!

That’s all for now! Hope all is well in all of your corners of the earth!

I just went on a lovely weekend trip to Portland, Oregon, and for once it was sunny! Well, Friday and Saturday at least. So it was great timing that Deena from Keats and Kitsch messaged me and informed me that she had given me the sunshine award! I was completely surprised and thankful; it’s always nice to know people enjoy your writing. Anyway, below is a little bit of information about the award, and some answers to questions that it asks about recipients.

The Sunshine Award is an award given by bloggers to other bloggers. The recipients of the Sunshine Award are: “Bloggers who positively and creatively inspire others in the blogsphere”. The way the award works is this: Thank the person who gave you the award and link back to them. Answer questions about yourself. Select 10 of your favourite bloggers, link their blogs to your post and let them know they have been awarded the Sunshine Award!

What inspired you to start blogging?

I have always been in the writing and editing field. Now I outreach to blogs all day at work and have been spending so much time in the blogging world that I decided to join it myself! I also think it’s a great way to get my work out there for people to read.

How did you come up with the name to your blog?

Way back when I had a myspace account (highschool) I had made my URL Ditzyairhead because I can be a bit spacey sometimes. One of my friends misread it as dairy airhead. I’ve always liked cows and I also liked the play on words (derrierre head) because I can be a bit of a butt sometimes too. So when I was brainstorming blog names I thought of that and decided to go with it.

What is your favourite blog that you like to read?

My favorite blog is a food blog called Poor Girl Eats Well. It is all about eating healthy and tastily on a budget. I love Kimberly’s writing and the stories behind her recipes. It’s one of the few food blogs that I Don’t skip down to the ingredients section.

Tell about your dream job.

Something that pays me to travel, eat, and write.

Is your glass half full or half empty?

Half full of water, half full of air.

If you could go anywhere for a week’s vacation, where would you go?

Australia. Ireland. Italy. I doubt I’d not enjoy a trip in any country though.

What food can you absolutely not eat?

Alfredo Sauce. Gross.

Dark chocolate or milk chocolate?

Most of the time, milk.

How much time do you spend blogging?

That’s hard to measure. I’ve been trying to post every day, and posts take me anywhere from 20 minutes to an hour. But then I spend time reading other blogs and trying to figure out how to get more readers (though the ones I have are awesome!) so I’ll say I average an hour a day, but sometimes spend more.

Do you watch tv – if so, what are some of your favourite shows?

Right now I love White Collar, Food reality shows (silly, I know), Blue bloods, and Once Upon A Time is amazing.

I don’t think I can choose ten bloggers that I like more than others. I often just go to the topics section of wordpress and pick one to explore. I of course enjoy blogs with poetry, travel, and food, but explore others as well. You should do the same!

That’s all for now! Have a great day everyone, and I hope you had some sunshine this weekend too!

It is almost noon, and though I have been awake for hours, I have only left my bed for a few minutes. Thank the universe for laptops, which allow us to pretend to be productive while lying in bed.

I was only going to sit here for long enough to post a story on my blog. It is a story I wrote for a class last year, and was published in the school’s literary journal. I have a couple of drafts saved on my blog, but this story is the one I wanted to post. It is about an author, and that is all I’m going to give away at this point.

So, I searched my computer for the document. I couldn’t find it under the story’s title. I couldn’t find it under any other feasible titles either. So I started going through all of my documents and downloads. I did not find the story. I did however, find a lot of other documents worth reading. Pieces I’ve started, pieces I’d forgotten about, lists I’ve made, goals I’ve set. There’s a lot of stuff on my computer. Read the rest of this entry

Deserving the Airhead Title

So I titled my first post “The End” and then I didn’t really explain why.

I am beginning this blog in order to end my existence as a wannabe writer. I want to stop putting things off just because I have time to do so. I have this issue where I am afraid to do the things I love, probably fearing failure. I know I can’t get anywhere if I don’t work on my passions, but instead of practicing my guitar or putting my story ideas to paper, I waste my time watching TV or staring at my computer.

By maintaining this blog, I hope to end my time as a slacker. Let’s see if I can make it happen.

The End

Beginnings only start because of something else ending, right?

I have decided to be extremely cliché and predictable and start actively posting on my blog on this day, the first of 2013. I am sure that no other wannabe bloggers have thought to do this. I am fully aware that starting on the first of the year in no way ensures that I will succeed in my goal of posting regularly. But I have to start somewhere and I’ve been putting it off long enough.

So this is me, writing a blog post, as much to see how it looks on the page as to be producing content. That’s about all I have to say right now; hopefully I’ll come up with something interesting later.
