Are secrets and lies the same thing?
Obviously not, from a pure definition standpoint.
But they do work well together, don’t they?
Lies help conceal secrets,
and therefore secrets often lead to lies.
Not all lies are bad.
Secrets can be harmless,
a birthday surprise,
a special day.
When a secret is yours,
concerning your life and choices,
lying to preserve your privacy,
that makes sense, right?
Or does it?
Because now those relationships are based on lies,
your reputation belongs to a fictitious version of you
your privacy might be maintained,
but what is the point?
People judge you one way or another.
Shouldn’t it be on who you really are?
In a perfect world.
